Upper 6 Blog

Date: 20th Nov 2016 @ 9:09pm

We have had lots going on recently in Upper 6 – here are some of our children’s favourite moments, blogged by the children themselves!

(Adaobi, Megan, Kerrie)

We have had an amazing two weeks this term, on Tuesday 15th November we got to see a brilliant story teller called The Journey Man and also we got visited by a famous author called Frank Cottrell Boyce (on Wednesday 16th November).

We have also been learning about Black History Month and the person we were studying about was Ruby Bridges (who was the first black child to go to a white school).

(Phoebe, Daisy, Cameron)

Friday 18th November was officially Pudsey Day. All of the children had a Pudsey-rific time. We all dressed up in a spotty theme and donated £1 each for Children in Need. The money raised will go towards people less fortunate than us, or with medical conditions supported, by Children in Need. We all enjoyed it and can’t wait for next year.

The Journey Man came into our school on Tuesday and told us story’s about King Jaja of Opobo and his son who died in Frodsham. He also told us about the first black Mayor of London, John Archer. It lasted about an hour in the hall but it was worth it.

(Harry, Harry, Josh)

A famous author called Frank Cottrell Boyce visited our school to read us a book about Broccoli Boy and tell us about his life as an author. He answered lots of our intriguing questions. As well as that he also signed books and sheets of paper for us.

(Lennie)

It was a fun day for the children and teachers in year six when Frank Cottrell Boyce visited. He told us about when he was young and turned yellow!

(Rebecca, Madison)

All of year 6 got to meet Frank Cottrell-Boyce because we did a topic on ‘The Unforgotten Coat.' We got some autographs by Frank as well. We asked lots of questions about Chingis and Nergui - the main characters of the book.

The book is about two boys moved from Mongolia to Bootle and had a good guide called Julie.
