Miss Booth 6B

Hello and welcome to 6B's class page.

I am thrilled to be joining 6B in their last year at Plantation. It is wonderful to see so many familiar faces and some new ones too!

We have a tough, yet exciting year ahead and I hope you will join me in helping make sure it is a successful one too!

On our class page you will find some useful information and our class blogs, which will give you up-to-date action from ‘6B’.

Please do not hesitate to come and see me or contact me if you don’t find the information you are looking for.

Important Information for this term:

Monday - Indoor PE (Plantation PE Kit and trainers)

Thursday - Outdoor PE ( Warm clothing and trainers)

Homework - Reading Eggs and Mathletics tasks will be set every Friday and should be completed by the following Thursday.

Times Tables - Every child has been given a username and password to access Times Tables Rock Stars. This is a brilliant resource to help practise times tables facts and the children can track their own progress as well as teachers.

Spellings - New spellings will be given out every Monday and children will be tested on a Friday.

Reading

We will be using Accelerated Reading again this year. The children will be given a book for their level and will complete a short quiz on that book.  By using Accelerated Reading I can track the children’s progress, but please remember to read as much as you can with your child at home too.

To Improve comprehension skills, we will also be using Reading Eggs. This interactive app is a fun, engaging resource to help develop all reading skills both in school and at home too. Each child has been given their own username and password to keep at home.

PE

This year we will have two PE Lessons, one indoor lesson on a Monday and one outdoor lesson on a Thursday . We are heading into the winter months now so I would encourage children to bring warm clothing for their outdoor PE lesson and suitable footwear.

Creative Curriculum Topic - Earth Matters

Within this topic, the children will gain a thorough knowledge of the water cycle, coasts and rivers, mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, climate zones and biomes through applying the knowledge gained from their research in practical tasks such as model making, drama, artwork and dance.
