Year 1 B - Mr Fillis 2020 - 2021

Welcome to Class 2A's class page

Home Learning Update:

You've all been doing so well at home with the lessons on Google. Here's a suggested timetable so that you can see at a glance what the subjects are for the whole week. I've included some suggested times, based on when we'd be doing the same lessons in school. This might help, but you can do the lessons in any order that works for you and your own situation. You'll find a link to the timetable just before the 'blog' section on this page.

Welcome back and what a delight it is to be back in school! Your children have settled in very well and have already started to do some fantastic work. Please follow my class page on Twitter, where I will update regularly to share work and other important information. Here is the address, @Plant_MrFillis

Please read on below for some key information for this year:

Reading- Children wil be given a reading to take home with their School Planner every FRIDAY. This starts on Friday 11th September. If you feel that your child can read more than one book a week, please let me know through their planner. All books must be returned every THURSDAY. This book will be from the book band level that they were last on in March. It may change soon, once I have heard everyone read. Please comment in the planner when you have listened to your child read. I will hear all of the children read each week as part of our Guided Reading lessons.

Spellings- New spelling lists will be given out every Friday. We will then complete some work on the rule during the following week in school, before a class test each Friday. Please discuss and practise the rule at home.

Homework- Reading books and spelling words will be sent weekly. Any additional maths and English homework will be sent home on a Friday and can be returned any day of the following week. There will be a big emphasis on learning times tables in maths and English homework will often be some grammar, punctuation or reading comprehension work.

P.E- We have two P.E sessions each week and these are each TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY. Children should come to school wearing their PE kit  and remain in this attire for the whole day. Our school PE kit consists of: a plain white t-shirt (or one with the school crest) and black shorts - over the top of this please wear a plain tracksuit and trainers with suitable ankle support (no plimsolls). PE days are not own clothes day and we encourage children to wear the appropriate kit as mentioned above.

Water bottles- It would be brilliant if every child has a named, water bottle in school to enable them to drink as much as possible during the school day, especially when the weather is warm and for after P.E lessons.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Fillis.
