Welcome to our class page!

Welcome back children, we are so excited to see you all and we are looking forward to a great year ahead together.

Please check our class page regularly for any important updates. We will also post photos, class news and general reminders on our class Twitter page @CookChadwick1 so please follow us!

Key Information:

PE

Our PE days are:

Monday (indoor PE)

Friday (outdoor PE)

PE Kit

On days where your child has a PE lesson they should attend school in their kit for the full day.

  • Plain white t-shirt or polo shirt
  • Plain black shorts
  • Black tracksuit top and bottoms, black leggings may also be worn
  • Trainers or pumps
  • Other sports kits, such as football strips, are not appropriate and should not be worn

Please make sure that all clothing is clearly labelled.

Water bottles/snacks

Every child should bring in a bottle of water each day with their name clearly labelled on it so that they can have a drink when required (only still water as we are a healthy school). Children do not need to bring in snacks, as fruit and milk is provided at snack time in Year 1.

Homework

Reading

We will be using a scheme called ‘Read Write Inc.’  Full details about your child’s reading will be sent out to you in a letter, which will be inside your child’s planner.

Library Books

Children will also be provided with a library book to promote reading for enjoyment. Your child can choose a library book from our reading area, which can be changed when needed. Please be advised that these books are not matched to your child’s reading level, since the idea is for you to read alongside your child. Please remember they can keep the book for at least one week or as long as they want to.

Please be advised that school planners/journals should always be used to record any reading that takes place inside and outside of school and they will be collected in, every week to be checked and signed.  All children should be reading on a regular basis (at least 5 times per week) at home. Listening to your child read every night is so important and will make such a huge difference to their progress.

Should you wish to send a message to the Year 1 team, please write your message in your child’s planner and ask your child to hand it to us, making us aware that there is a message from home.  If your child forgets to give their planner to us, we may not know that you have sent a message.
