Home Learning

All of our Home Learning tasks will be on Google Classroom.

Every child has a sticker detailing their log in information on the inside of their Plantation journals. If you have lost your log in details, please email and request your child's log in details.

We understand that supporting your child's home learning whilst also having work commitments is difficult to manage. Therefore, all Y4 tasks will be uploaded by Miss Brown, Mr Palmer and Mr Sanders on Mondays. These will be organised into dated folders. However, you have the flexibility to decide when your child completes their home learning tasks to accommodate your work commitments/schedule. The deadline for completed tasks for each week will be Friday at midnight. For those parents that would wish to structure their child's day like a school day, a suggested timetable is below for you to use.

A weekly zoom meeting will also occur for your child to attend. For Y4B, this will be on Fridays at 14:00. To access the zoom meeting, click on the google classroom task labelled 'Y4B Zoom Meeting' and click the link within it.

If you have any questions about home learning tasks, please contact us through Google Classrooms by writing in the comments sections of the task or by emailing

Thank you for all of your support!

Key Information

P.E days:  Wednesday (Outdoor) & Thursday (Indoor).

On the days that your child has a PE or Games lesson we ask that they come to school in their PE/Games kit. They will wear this kit for the whole day instead of their uniform.

Please ensure your child comes to school in the correct PE kit with a plain tracksuit and trainers/pumps to wear for the whole day. Children should not be attending school in replica sports kits, such as football kits. For more information regarding the correct P.E kit, please go to

Homework: Every day, your child will be expected to:

  • Practise their spellings by using Spelling Shed or any other method (5 minutes)
  • Practise their times tables by using Times Table Rockstars or any other method (5 minutes)
  • Read their accelerated reading book with an adult or access their reading account on Epic (5 minutes)

Log in details for the websites are on the inside cover of your child's journal.

Spellings: The children be given a new set of spellings to take home and practice each Monday. They will then be tested on the week's spellings every Friday.

Times Tables: The children will be tested each Tuesday.

Reading School journals are to be used to record any reading that occurs inside and outside of school. All children should be reading every day at home. The children will be using a reading scheme called 'Accelerated Reading'. This scheme will identify a 'score' for your child and recommend suitable books based on that score. You may think that the books being recommended to your child are 'easy', but this scheme has been designed to quiz your child on their understanding of the content of the book, not the fluency of reading. Once your child completes their book, they need to bring the book into school and complete the quiz on an ipad in school. They will receive a % score and the scheme will then recommend a new book for them to read. Due to COVID19, there may be a reduced number of books available to the children to read in school. However, the children can access more books online by accessing their accounts on Epic and clicking on 'AR'.

I will hear all of the children read each week as part of reciprocal reading sessions.
