Clubs & Activities

A varied programme of enrichment clubs runs throughout the school year, with opportunities available across the school.

One of the things we want to make special about enrichment at Plantation is the opportunity for children to benefit from the interests, hobbies and skills of our own staff.

Throughout the year, members of staff run clubs based around something they enjoy or a skill they can share with children. This allows pupils to experience activities they may not encounter within the normal curriculum and gives staff the opportunity to share their own passions and expertise.

Clubs already planned or offered this year include:

• Mindfulness Colouring Club

• Outdoor Crafts and Activities

• Rounders Club

• Stay and Play

• Board Games Club

• New Age Kurling

• Dance

• Choir

• Gardening

Alongside these, our sporting club offer includes opportunities such as:

• Year 1 and 2 Multi-Sports

• Year 1 and 2 Athletics

• Year 3 and 4 Dodgeball

• Year 5 and 6 Dodgeball

• Year 5 and 6 Multi-Sports

• KS2 Kurling

• KS2 Netball

…and many more as the year progresses.

Our club programme is planned to provide a broad range of experiences across the five areas identified within the Department for Education’s Enrichment Benchmarks:

• civic engagement

• arts and culture

• nature, outdoors and adventure

• sport and physical activity

• wider life and future skills

The current programme of clubs and activities is shared with families throughout the year.

We also monitor participation so that we can identify children who may be accessing fewer opportunities and provide additional encouragement or support where appropriate. This reflects the DfE expectation that schools understand who is taking part and work to address barriers where they exist.
