Snacks, Packed Lunches & Drinks
At Plantation Primary, we understand the important role a healthy diet can play in supporting children’s physical and mental well-being. We aim to work with parents to ensure our children recognise this.
Part of this process is to ensure that children from Years 3-6 bring in a healthy snack for break time. We ask parents to send in fruit, plain biscuit, or toast.
For packed lunches, we provide parents with guidance on what a healthy packed lunch should look like and we do not allow fizzy drinks. Examples of healthy packed lunches can be found on:

Drinks and water bottles
Parents/carers are kindly requested to provide their child with a bottle of drinking water, clearly labelled with the child's name, for the child to use through the day. Children will be able to top up their bottle of water through the day as needed, under the direction of the adult in charge.
Allowing children to have water bottles throughout the day encourages hydration, which is essential for their health and concentration. Water is a basic necessity and doesn’t contain added sugars or artificial flavours, unlike fruit juice or flavoured water, which can contribute to dental issues and excess calorie intake. Plus, promoting water consumption helps establish healthy habits early on. Please ensure your child only brings water to school for their use throughout the day.
Please see the posters available below from the British Nutrition Foundation for more information on children aged 1-4 and 5-11 keeping healthy and hydrated.
