British Values for Life
British Values at Plantation Primary School
At Plantation Primary School, our school values are at the heart of everything we do. Alongside these, we actively promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs, including those with no faith.
We are committed to ensuring that all pupils leave our school well prepared for life in modern Britain as respectful, responsible, and confident members of society. These values are embedded throughout our curriculum and school life through activities such as School Council elections, assemblies, class discussions, PSHE lessons, and wider enrichment opportunities.
Through carefully planned lessons and assemblies, children learn about:
respecting similarities and celebrating differences
challenging stereotypes
understanding discrimination and why it is wrong
valuing equality, tolerance, and mutual respect
developing the confidence to use their voice and stand up against unfairness
At Plantation Primary School, we teach British values to help our children:
Develop self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence
Recognise the difference between right and wrong and understand the importance of respecting the law
Take responsibility for their actions, show initiative, and contribute positively to school and the wider community
Develop an understanding of public institutions and services in England
Appreciate and respect different cultures, traditions and beliefs
Show respect and consideration for others
Understand democracy and participate in democratic processes, recognising how laws are made and applied
By promoting British values, Plantation Primary School aims to nurture children who are thoughtful, inclusive, and ready to make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world.
