Our Enrichment Experiences
Our enrichment offer is being developed around the five areas identified within the Department for Education’s Enrichment Benchmarks.
Civic engagement
We want children to understand that they can make a positive contribution to their school and wider community.
Opportunities may include pupil leadership, school democracy, charitable activities, community projects, debating and representing the views of others.
These experiences help children develop confidence, responsibility and an understanding of what it means to be an active member of a community.
Arts and culture
Children are given opportunities to experience, enjoy and participate in the arts and cultural life.
This can include music, art, dance, drama, performances, museums, galleries and other cultural experiences.
Our current club offer also includes opportunities such as dance, choir, crafts and mindfulness colouring, giving children the chance to be creative, expressive and confident.
Nature, outdoors and adventure
We want children to spend time outdoors, experience challenge and develop confidence and independence.
Our offer includes outdoor learning, environmental and sustainability activities, gardening, outdoor crafts and activities, educational visits and adventurous experiences.
Our Year 6 residential also gives pupils the opportunity to experience challenge, teamwork and independence away from the usual school environment.
Sport and physical activity
Sport and physical activity are an important part of our enrichment offer.
Children are given opportunities to take part in a wide range of activities through clubs, competitions and external events, both individually and as part of a team.
Plantation pupils have taken part in competitions and events including:

SEND Boccia
SEND Learning and Discovery events
Spirit of the Game events at Liverpool Hope University
…and many more.
We are particularly proud of the range of inclusive sporting opportunities available to our pupils, including events designed specifically to support children with SEND.
These experiences give children the opportunity to represent Plantation, work as part of a team, develop confidence and resilience, and experience competition in a positive and supportive environment.
Wider life and future skills
Enrichment also helps children develop skills and interests that will support them beyond primary school.
Activities may include STEM, science and technology, digital skills, cooking, enterprise, financial awareness and experiences that develop teamwork, communication, independence and problem-solving.
Our wider club programme, including board games, wellbeing activities and practical clubs, also gives children opportunities to develop social skills, confidence and independence in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
