Performances & Music

Performing is an important part of enrichment at Plantation and gives children opportunities to build confidence, express themselves, work collaboratively and celebrate their achievements with others.

Across the school, pupils are given regular opportunities to perform as part of their year-group experience.

Our programme includes:

• EYFS and Year 1 Christmas performances

• Year 2 Easter performances

• Year 3 Ukulele Wider Opportunities performances

• Year 4 Clarinet Wider Opportunities performances

• Year 5 Harvest celebrations

• Year 6 end-of-year production and celebration assembly

Alongside these year-group opportunities, pupils can also take part in wider whole-school and community performances.

Children have opportunities to perform as part of our annual Make Music Day contest and at the Plantanbury Festival, while our choir performs regularly throughout the year at a range of school and community events.

Music and performance help children develop confidence, creativity, teamwork and communication skills. They also give pupils the chance to experience the excitement of performing for an audience and to celebrate their own progress and the achievements of others.

These opportunities form an important part of our wider arts and culture offer and help ensure that performance is something children experience regularly throughout their time at Plantation.
