13.02.19 - Halewood Football Fixtures - Round 3

The final round of fixtures for the Halewood football league took place on 13.02.19 and it was an incredibly tight affair! 5 out of the 6 teams could qualify for the finals if the results went their way, and so we had to achieve at least 4 points to have a chance of progressing. The first game started badly, mainly because Mr Sanders thought that it was 6 a side instead of 7! He was reffing as well and he didn't even realise! Consequently, we lost the first game 1-0, meaning that we had to get something out of the next game against Halewood CoE. The game was end to end, with both teams having chances to score. However, with approximately 5 minutes left, we scored two quick goals to seal a vital win. The final game was against St Andrews, and again was a close encounter. Joel G made a fantastic save to keep the scores level, before Harvey H pounced on a goalkeeping 'fumble' to poke the ball home and secure another super win, meaning that the team qualified as joint winners of the league! We are now looking forward to the Knowsley finals, and Mr Sanders could sleep peacefully in the knowledge that his blunder did not cost the team!
