27.11.16 - Intra-school Handball Competition - Autumn 2

For the past three weeks, our children have been competing in the first Plantation Primary Intra-school handball competition. With 12 teams entering, we had over 70 children participating in the competition!

The teams began by playing in the group fixtures, with the top two teams progressing to the semi-finals. In group 1, 'Da Boyz' (captained by Bailey W) and 'The Pros (captained by Tom R) progressed to the semi-finals and set up matches against group 2 winners 'The Savages' (captained by Josh G) and 'The Rockets' (captained by Curtis D). The semi-finals were both close games, but the two group stage winners won their matches to set up an enthralling final match.

After 15 minutes of play in the final match, the scores were tied and so it was down to penalties to decide the winner of the Plantation Sports Cup! The star of the shootout was ‘Da Boyz’ goalkeeper Joe S, who saved all of the penalty shots that he faced. It meant that during Friday’s Celebration Assembly, ‘Da Boyz’ were presented with the Plantation Sports Cup and their winners medals. I would like to say commiserations to ‘The Savages’ and the other teams who participated in the competition!

We would like to thank Mr Murphy for supervising the competition during each lunch time break. Also, we would like to thank the sports leaders who officiated and recorded the matches. Without them, the competition would not have been able to run.
