Here you’ll find all the key information you need to support your child’s journey through Year 3.

Our Year 3 Team

Snacks and Water Bottles

Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school each day, clearly labelled with their name.

If your child would like a snack at break time, it must be one of the following:

• Toast
• Fruit
• A plain biscuit (e.g. digestive or rich tea)
• Alternative healthy snack

Planners

Children should bring their planner to and from school every day. Planners are used to:

• Record daily reading
• Record Accelerated Reader quiz scores
• Store usernames and passwords for learning websites

A member of staff will check planners every Friday. We expect children to have at least four reading entries recorded each week and a parent/carer signature.

If you write a message in your child’s planner, please remind them to show it to a member of staff.

Homework

In Year 3, our main focus is:

• Daily reading (recorded in planners, ideally read aloud to an adult)
• Times tables recall, practised regularly at home using TTRockstars

PE

• Indoor PE – Monday
• Outdoor PE – Thursday

On PE days, children should come to school in their PE kit and wear it for the whole day.

The correct kit must be worn:

• Plain white t-shirt or polo shirt
• Plain black shorts
• Black tracksuit top and bottoms (or black leggings)
• Trainers or pumps

Please note:

• Football kits and other sports kits are not permitted
• Watches and jewellery must be removed for PE
• Long hair must be tied back

If your child is not in the correct kit, they may be unable to take part in the lesson.

Spelling

Below is a list of all the Year 3 and 4 spellings. Children can play the spelling games and activities we do in school. 

Visit (or click the link) https://www.spellingtraining.com to access free online games. Simply insert 10 words from the Year 3/4 spelling words and play games such as hangman, flash card, word searches and much more.

French

Duolingo is a good resource to keep practising French skills. It is a free resource; please CLICK HERE for help tips on how to use it.

Follow this link to access a resource to further practise some French topic skills. There are stories for the children to read/listen to.

Why not use the Collins French dictionary online to look up and check any new vocabulary?
