The Debate of the Cold Princess - Upper 5
Date: 10th Mar 2017 @ 12:01pm
Our English lessons this term as based around Carol Ann Duffy's new fairytale The Princess' Blankets. Over the past few days, the children have been getting into character and developing arguments and counter arguments. The scenario is this: there is a Princess who is always cold and her parents (The King and Queen) have asked the people of their kingdom for help with ways of warming her up. A stony-eyed stranger in dark clothing (who refuses to bow to the king) arrives and tells the King and Queen he will cure their daughter. However, as a reward he wishes to take the Princess away from the kingdom to be his wife.
Below are videos of the debate we had in class today. On the left side are the Kings (willing to allow the stranger help his daughter but having to lose her) and on the right side are the Queens (not willing to give up their only daughter to this stranger).
Please comment below as to which side (left for Kings or right for Queens) you believe won the debate.
