19.01.17 - Y3 EFC Football Festival - written by Mr Sanders

I had the pleasure of taking eight of our Year 3 boys to the Knowsley stages of the EFC Football festival this week! With 14 schools competiting in total, we knew that it would be tough this year to progress to the next stages. The pressure was on, especially as the boys had progressed very far in last year's competition and Miss Robinson had reminded me of that many times! The schools were split into two groups of 7, and we started well by winning our first fixture 1-0. After the six group fixtures, we had won 4 matches and drew 2 and had made it to the final! The final match started as a tense affair, with neither team troubling their opponents goal. With five minutes remaining, Lucas G chased a bouncing ball up the left wing. With one swoop of the left boot, he smashed it over the stranded keeper and into the top corner! The relief of breaking the deadlock helped the boys, as further goals from Harvey and Cayden sealed a 3-0 victory and meant that we now progress into the next round of the competition at Finch Farm. Well done boys!!
