26.01.17 - Spring 1 Intra-school Table Tennis Competition

We had 15 participants in our Table Tennis Intra-school competition this evening. The competition began with the children being placed into four groups. Each child played their group opponents once and scored 2 points for a victory. After the group stages, we had 8 children progress to the quarter finals. We had two incredibly close quarter final matches, with Jodie S beating Luke R-T 12-10 and Adam T beating Tom R 18-16 in a really tense encounter. The semi finals pitted Jodie S against Luke H and Joe M against Adam T. Wins for Luke H and Joe M meant that they competed for the gold and silver medals in the final. Jodie S played Adam T in the third place play-off, and was victorious in claiming the bronze medal. The final match was a great game of table tennis, with both players demonstrating their superior returning skills. However, it was Joe M who was more consistent in the final, and so became the first winner of our intra-school table tennis competition. He received his gold medal and got to lift the Plantation cup in assembly. Well done to Luke H for claiming the silver medal. He showed throughout the competition his great talent and sportsmanship.

I would like to thank all of the children who participated in the competition. They all played brilliantly, and even had the opportunity to officiate matches too!
