Monday 13th June

Today was the first day of the Euro 2016 Fifa tournament, group stages. To kick off the day, Max and April (representing Wales and Slovakia) went against each other in an intense match.

During the first half Max, Wales, managed to get two yellow cards for two of his players, but just before half time he scored a BRILLIANT goal. The second half wasn’t as action-packed as people had expected it to be, resulting in the fact that the score stayed 1-0 to Max throughout the whole game and April stayed without a chance. It was an easy win for Wales. After the match, Max - from Miss Hughes’ class – said “I feel that a safe first game (1-0) is a good way to start the Euros for Wales.”

After that, George (Switzerland) played against Danyal (Albania). Switzerland came into the game, confident, which paid off when they scored an early goal 13 minutes in. All was quiet up until the last half an hour when Switzerland scored THREE goals in the space of ten minutes!  The final score was 4-0 to Switzerland (George).

The next game was a great one because Joe C, England, was against James, Russia. With a quiet first half an hour, the crowd were longing for a goal, which they received when England scored.  Tom (who was a member of the crowd) quoted that the game was even until Joe scored. With 15 minutes to go, Joe scored twice, giving England a hard-earned victory.

The last match was Billy against Callum. Northern Ireland were represented by Billy and Poland by Callum. The game as a whole was a one-sided match, as Billy scored two goals in total: one in the 22nd minute and the second in the 79th minute, securing him a two nil victory.

This was the end of the first day of the group stages. With the atmosphere high, everybody couldn’t wait for tomorrow.

Tuesday 14th June

Today was the second day of the euro 2016 fifa tournament group stages. The first game of the day was Byron –Romania- against Daniel from Miss Hughes’s class who represented France. The first half was slow with not a lot of action. But in the second half it started to liven up when the first goal was scored by France in the 50th minute. There was still time for Byron equalise but after two minutes of added time Byron couldn’t even experience the feeling of scoring in the group stages. Well done Daniel but unlucky Byron.

The second match of the day was won by Dylan (Germany) who beat Josh (Norway).  In the sixth minute Germany scored to take a 1-0 lead. Germany doubled their lead 2-0 when before Norway’s first goal was bagged in the 52nd minute. In the 60th minute Germany scored another before five minutes passed by and Germany added a fourth .Then the final whistle was blown. Sorry Josh maybe next time, good job Dylan well done.
