Exercise is lots of fun!

We love our Running Club sessions! Exercise is important for keeping healthy and feeling great! It`s wonderful to run in the fresh air and feel the wind on our faces!

After a few laps we stop and feel the effects of the exercise on our bodies. This is what some of us have to say about it ……

“My heart felt lumpy when I was running, it felt funny!” TM

“My heart was beating faster! I was running then I was tired” ML

“It felt good to run and run, my tummy felt warm, running makes me feel better” LM

“My heart was going fast, bum, bum, fast like that! I was running too fast, it made me feel warm and cold!” LA

I was a little bit puffed out, my feet felt hot” BM

“I felt thirsty because I was running, I was tired and warm” OH

“I get hot!” FM

“My heart was breathing fast! I was breathing hot!”BM

Sometimes we play a number game when we are doing our Running Club – we get a sticker for each lap that we complete and we stick them on our card, then at the end we count them up to see how many laps we have done. Later we record how many we did, by matching numbers or making a sequence or using a numberline etc We have fun with different number activities each time. Sometimes we ask ourselves questions eg How many would it have been if we had done two more laps? Which people did the same number of laps? Did I do more this time or last time?

CHALLENGE –

Why not go out for a family run and see who keeps going the longest? Take something to use as markers and map out a little circuit, then count how many laps you each do. Can mummy run as many laps as you?

When you sit down to rest, talk about how your body feels. Can you feel your dad`s heart beating?

What does your body need now? What could you have as a healthy snack? Why is it important to be healthy?

What could you do to make your run a bit tougher next time?
