'Home Learning Pack 2'

Date: 26th Mar 2020 @ 12:53pm

We hope your first week of learning from home has gone well and both you and the children have begun to settle into the new routines. We have decided to upload 'Home Learning Pack 2' early in order to give you enough time to print what is needed before Monday. If this is not possible don't worry, the children can record their answers in either their home learning notebook or on a blank piece of paper.

'Home Learning Pack 2' includes:

Maths: 5 maths worksheets based on weight and mass, with answers included. Each lesson also has a matching learning clip for the children, which can be found by following the link whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/

English: 5 English lessons with accompanying stories. Each lesson incudes a 'what to do today' page, which talks both yourself and the children through the activities for the lesson.

Phonics: This week in phonics there are a range of different games and activities to help the children revise their split digraphs. Phase 3 and phase 5 sound cards have also been included; these can be used at the start of the lesson as a quick recap of the sounds they have learnt in reception and year 1.

Comprehension: There are 3 comprehensions included for your child, based on their book band levels. However, if you feel that your child is either finding the comprehension too easy or hard please feel free to try the comprehension above or below their book band level.

French: Last week in French the children began to learn about colours. I have included a PowerPoint and sound clips on the different colours in French. Then there is an activity for the children to complete.

History: In History the next 'great explorer' the children are going to learn about is Neil Armstrong, I have included a PowerPoint to teach the children all about Neil Armstrong and then there is a fact file for them to fill in about his achievements. Challege: If the children like they can make their own rocket based on Neil Armstrong’s.

Geography: In our last Geography topic the children were learning about the United Kingdom. I have included two worksheets for the children to consolidate their knowledge. BBC Bitesize is a great website to remind children about the United Kingdom, CLICK HERE for the link.

Science/ Outdoor learning: In science this week the children have been asked to keep an outdoor weather diary.

Arts and Crafts: There are also 3 different Easter Craft ideas, perfect for keeping the children busy in the afternoons.

We don’t expect all these activities to be completed by the end of the week, as long as the children are completing a few hours of learning each day. If there is anything at all that you need support with please leave a message with the office and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Many thanks and stay safe,

Miss McKimm and Mrs Chadwick.
