National Sports Week 26th-30th June 2017

We are excited to inform you about our school’s participation in National School Sports Week this year. During the week beginning Monday 26th June, our children will be involved in a wide range of sporting opportunities delivered by teachers and external providers. Your child will need to bring their P.E kit into school every day of this week, as they could be participating in sport and physical activity on each day.

During this week, our Y1-6 children will take part in a ‘sports day’ event delivered by KMCSPORTS. The event will be an opportunity for all of our children to try less traditional sports and activities such as Goalball and Tri-golf. Parent spectators are welcome and below are the dates and times of each class’ event:

Tuesday 27th June - NOW CHANGED TO THURSDAY 6th JULY

10:15 – 11:15: Upper 1 and Upper 2

11:30 – 12:30: Upper 3, Upper 4 and Upper 5

14:00 – 15:00: Upper 6, Upper 7 and Upper 8

Wednesday 28th June - NOW CHANGED TO WEDNESDAY 5th  JULY

10:30 – 11:30: Lower 1, Lower 2 and Lower 3

12:45 – 13:45: Lower 4 and Lower 5

14:00 – 15:00: Lower 6, Lower 7 and Lower 8

The children will enter and leave the playing field with their class and will stay with their selected group as they move around the different events. Parents are asked to remain in the designated parent seating areas for safety reasons. Three sides of the field will be made available to parents to ensure that you do not miss any of the action!

For our reception aged children, they will receive a special sports day event on Thursday 29th June. The event will be delivered by our Year 6 children and they will be supported by Everton in the Community’s highly skilled coaches and our fantastic teaching staff. This project will be an invaluable experience for our Year 6 children, as they will work in small groups to plan their own activities, organise the equipment required before delivering their activity to our reception aged children.

Unfortunately, no parent spectators will be allowed to attend this event, as with a lot of adults and changes to normal routines for the children we would like to minimise the anxiety that our children experience on the day. However, our sports blog will be regularly updated throughout the week with photographs and videos of the events that take place, so that you get to see how much your child has enjoyed the day!

This year, we have delayed the first events by an hour to give them every opportunity to go ahead. We empathise with your frustrations regarding cancelled events. However, the children’s safety is our ultimate concern. If an event is cancelled, you will be notified by parent mail and the school website’s News section at the earliest possible opportunity. A replacement event will also be scheduled where possible. Please ensure that your contact information is up to date and you check in to the school website so that you do not miss any potential messages.

We hope that you are as excited about National School Sports Week as we are and we look forward to seeing you at your child’s event.

Yours faithfully,

Mr K Sanders

P.E and Sport Co-ordinator
