Good morning everyone!

Good morning to all our parents, carers and children!

It was fantastic to see some more faces this morning arriving at school.  This follows our recent work to check in with key worker families and our vulnerable children.  As a result, we now have more children on our registers and we have altered our drop off and pick up routines.  To help those of you who are going to be in over the next few days, please see the points below to help you.

We are now operating with three different drop-off and pick up points, it sounds complicated but Mr Boulton and I will be around each morning and afternoon to help direct people:

  • Years 3 to 6 will need to walk up the cycle path and drop their children with staff at the double gates near the bike sheds.  For pick up, please come through that gate and onto the playground keeping the correct distance from others.  The staff will bring children out from the doors at the end of the corridor and send the children out to you.  We will have arrows on the pathways soon to create a mini one way system too to help with your social distancing.
  • Years 1 and 2 will need to walk up towards our Green Room where a member of staff will show the children in to the Year 2 classrooms.  At home time, please queue up the pathway towards the Green Room, keeping 2m apart, and staff will bring the children out.  Please use the pathway to walk up and the driveway to walk down and out of school – another mini one way system to help with your social distancing.
  • Nursery and Reception children will need to walk up the driveway to the gate at the top end of school and go through to the Nursery entrance for drop off and pick up, again queuing 2m apart.  Please try to keep to the left of the driveway and pathway to help keep your distance from people walking up and down.

Don’t worry, it will make more sense when you experience it the first time and we will be on hand to help direct people.

At this time, our offer is childcare for children of key worker families and vulnerable children only.  Staff will fill the day with activities including those that teachers are posting for Home Learning on the website.

Children do not to wear uniform at this time.  Please still send your child in wearing clothing that is suitable for lots of activities, including outdoor lessons.  Normal rules around jewellery still apply.

Those parents/carers who are now registered for places do not need to book specific days.  I want to be able to support parents/carers where their shift patterns may change or they are urgently called into work.  Similarly, children do not need to attend every day.

If your child is not attending because they are ill, please let us know.  This is of particular importance if your child is symptomatic with covid-19.

Hopefully, that answers any questions you may have but if there is anything else, please ask Mr Boulton or I when you see us in the morning or afternoon.  If you have a query for teachers, please phone the school or drop in an email for them to respond to – this supports us all in keeping safe with social distancing.

I hope you will agree that even though this might feel a little strange, it is there to keep everyone safe.  I want us to operate a safe school where you can be confident that your child will get the best care.  Please help us with this too as we are all doing our bit.

Thank you, Mr Hanley
